An anthology of short stories that are a modern interpretation of Dante Alighieri’s Paradiso. It is part of a trilogy titled The Gnostic Divine Comedy.

The protagonist is the reader in The Astral Plane. Each story is about experiences in the metaphysical world. Some of the stories are derived from imagery based on the accounts of sages from a variety of faiths reporting their view of paradise. Selected views of paradise include Jannah, Olam Ha-Ba, Svarga, Nirvana, Valhalla, Tír na nÓg, and Heaven. Other stories take on a science fiction perspective. Selected examples include positive extraterrestrial encounters and crossing the Wall of Fire in Scientology.

The Astral Plane is the Gnostic Divine Comedy equivalent of Dante’s Paradiso in the original Divine Comedy Trilogy.

The experiences encountered are intended to provoke thought on what it may mean to reach paradise. The stories sometimes draw inspiration from the author’s own life experience. Others are derived from the author’s research on a subject or an event that relates to the overall theme.
